Cruelty-Free Skincare: Alba Botanica

A few months back, I was switching from my typical in-shower face wash and wanted to find one that was not only cruelty-free, but safe for sensitive skin and didn’t have those awful little plastic beads in them.

I was browsing the “Natural” section at my local Target and found a brand I’d never heard of before: Alba Botanica.

I was a bit overwhelmed at first, seeing all of the different options, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I looked at the back of each product. I saw how many wonderful things were in the products, and they list what they leave out, which immediately hooked me.

Here’s what each product, along with their website has to say about their product standards: ”

100% Vegetarian. No: Animal Testing, Artificial Colors, Artificial Fragrances, Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Myreth Sulfate

This Daily Detox Foaming Cleanser is what I bought for my in-shower face wash. The orange, citrus scent is to-die for and it doesn’t make my sensitive, rosacea-ridden skin red or angry. On top of that, you know you’re buying a good product because it is 100% vegetarian, and they do not test ANY part of their product on animals at any time. Hallelujah!

For the past few weeks, however, it’s like my skin has time-traveled back to high school and I’ve gotten acne like nobody’s business again. I’m used to it on my chin and mouth area, but I’m talking the all-over breakouts you get as a teenager and holy cow, it’s just as awful as an adult! So, I decided to buy this Gentle Acne Wash to see how that would help things. So far, my current acne hasn’t been too quick to respond, but I haven’t gotten any *new* breakouts since I started using it, so that’s good! (I also attribute my stress to changing literally everything in my life right now, so I’m sure that’s what a lot of the acne is.)

These two products are the only thing I’ve tried from Alba Botanica so far, but they have so many other lines like Hawaiian, Good & Healthy, Anecdote, etc. I plan on trying them out as I need them, and hopefully I’ll have just as much luck with the other products as I did with the Good & Clean line.

Have you ever tried any of Alba Botanica’s products? What cruelty-free brands do you enjoy? I’m *always* looking for new drugstore brands to try that are cruelty-free so I would love to hear your opinions as well!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year and I can’t wait to update you on all my Florida adventures as I get moved in. I’ll start driving down there in less than 4 days, so I’m pretty excited. I’m sure posts will still be pretty infrequent as I move, but I will try to at least get in one post a week or so until I can get a schedule established in my new place.

Until next time! ❤
