Vegan Halloween Candy!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and Fall has always been my favorite time of year. I love the leaves changing, the cooler temperatures, the pumpkin and cinnamon scented candles, and the eerie-but-fun atmosphere that Halloween provides.

Since I’ll be handing out candy this year for the first time in awhile, I thought I would look up some vegan candies to hand out. Specifically, I wanted to make sure to find treats that had no animal products in them *at all.* I was surprised to find that some of my favorites are already vegan! (Please keep in mind, these are in no way a healthy treat option. They are just treats that happen to be vegan!)

Jolly Ranchers (both the original hard candy and the lollipops!)

I’ll take all of the Apple and Cherry, please!

Sour Patch Kids

Sour Patch Kids are my go-to movie candy so believe me when I say I jumped for joy at finding out these were, in fact, vegan!

Sweetarts

My mouth waters at the thought of these tart little tasties. Mmm…

These are just a handful of my favorites from when I was a little trick-or-treater. What are yours?

Some other vegan options that I didn’t mention:

  • Smarties
  • Pixy Sticks
  • Dum Dums
  • Air Heads
  • Fun Dip
  • Dots

I’m not a big candy-eater nowadays unless I’m at the movies, so I’m excited to pick up some of these for the little trick-or-treaters this year. My next task is to find some little vegan chocolate options that aren’t in the big bars. Something easy to pass out to the kids.Β If you know of where to get some, please let me know!

Do you have trick-or-treaters in your area? What do you plan on passing out?

Until next time! ❀

Summer 2015 Favorites!

September 23rd, marks the first day of my absolute all-time favorite season: Autumn!!! (Or Fall, if you’re American/more casual.)

Between the cooler weather, the colorful, crunchy leaves, snuggly sweaters, adorable boots, and my favorite holidays, Fall could literally not be any more perfect. This will be an interesting Fall for me this year since I moved to Florida this year from Minnesota where it’s absolutely gorgeous in the Fall.

Florida hasn’t gotten the memo that it’s Fall yet, so the heat and humidity are still pretty miserable. However, with Magic Kingdom being decorated for Fall/Halloween now and Pumpkin Spice Latte’s being served all day every day, (the joys of working at a Starbucks) I know that my favorite season is officially here!

So, in honor of this glorious time of the year, I thought I would review just a few of my favorite things from this past Summer. It’s going to be a mixture of things, so I hope you enjoy!

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer

This cruelty-free primer from Tarte has become my all-time favorite foundation to use. When the lady at Sephora recommended this to me as a medium-to-full-coverage foundation good for those who are as pale as a ghost like me, I kind of looked at her funny. I mean, I’m used to Primers being clear-ish and what goes on *before* foundation. This is SO not like that. It not only matches my pale skin perfectly, it protects from the sun, lasts all day, and has awesome, buildable coverage. I hate when foundations say they’re buildable and then it feels like your face weighs 10lbs because of all the makeup you put on. But, not this stuff. It feels amazingly light and looks super natural. The more you put on, the more matte it becomes, but I find that it’s *perfect* for covering up my redness and the occasional blemish I might get. I’m almost out of this stuff, but you can bet I’ll be headed to Sephora the minute I run out to purchase this again.

Crystal Roll-On Natural Body Deodorant

Being in Florida, the heat and humidity are probably the hardest things to get used to. I knew that once I moved here, I’d have to find a deodorant that worked really well, so I expected to pay a lot of money for something that was a good cruelty-free product and didn’t use aluminum. Who knew that spending $4 at CVS would be one of the best decisions I’ve made!? Now, let me preference this by saying it’s a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. I wanted something to keep me from getting stinky, and I don’t sweat much so that’s why I chose this one. Not only is it unscented, which I prefer so it doesn’t mix with any perfumes I wear, but it’s long-lasting, completely clear so it doesn’t leave those annoying white stains on my clothes, and is absolutely cruelty-free! I call this a win-win in every sense of the phrase.

Cartwheel App by Target

I’ve been using the Cartwheel app for a couple of years now, and if you’re not familiar with it, it’s basically a coupon app exclusively for Target. You browse the current deals and get 5% or more off a variety of things at Target. I do all my grocery shopping there, so I always make my list with the app, and it shows what you can get discounts on based on the current deals of that week. And it’s not just for groceries. It’s for everything Target carries. I’m lucky enough to live by a Super Target and can buy pretty much anything there. I’ve used it for everything from clothes to toiletries to home goods and medicine. Plus, they usually have discounts on the cruelty-free brands that they carry, which is obviously a huge incentive for me to use it.

Halloween Minnie Ears

I’ll be honest, when I first saw these ears, I did not think “Halloween.” I just thought, “Ahhh! Two of my favorite colors! They must be mine!” I’ve been wearing them when I go to the parks and they’re just so much fun. I’ve never really worn ears and I figured that these sequined beauties were a sign that I must finally get myself a pair I’d actually wear.

Just me and Cinderella, being princesses. πŸ˜‰

There’s just something about putting on a pair of Mickey/Minnie ears and experiencing Walt Disney World as a guest instead of as a Cast Member that really just reminds me of how grateful I am to be working at the Most Magical Place on Earth where I can celebrate being a kid at heart.

And on that note, I must go back to being an adult and finish all of my errands for the day. Thank you so much for letting me share with you!

Question: Can anyone recommend a good cruelty-free shampoo and conditioner? I liked my Lush Braziliant Bar, but I’d prefer something a little more moisturizing and easy to use. Any recommendations would be great!

As always, thanks for reading!

Learning to Downsize

Since I have become one of those workaholics that works 45+ hours a week, I have found myself spending less and less time at home. So much less time, in fact, that I came home the other day, looked at my room, and instantly thought: “Wow, I have way too much stuff.”

If you’re anything like me, you might find comfort in retail therapy, or find it hard to resist a really good deal when it comes to things like clothing or beauty products. However, don’t even get me started on Disney things. Living here in Florida has truly tested my ability to pace myself and save up money instead of buying every cute thing I see related to Haunted Mansion or Figment. Thankfully, I’ve been doing a good job in that department.

(Seriously, Halloween is my weakness. LOOK AT IT ALL!)

Coming home now sort of stresses me out. I am currently renting a room, and so the majority of my stuff must be inside my bedroom. If I had my own place, maybe I wouldn’t feel so cluttered, but I did take advantage of some time off recently and donated a giant garbage bag full of clothes. I mean, where the heck does it all come from!? I generally wear the same things regularly anyway, so all those things I had shoved in the back of the closet or down in the lower drawers I never got into were donated to the local Red Cross here in Orlando.

Donating clothing and general knick-knacks always makes me feel a little better than if I were just throwing things away. First off, throwing things in the garbage seems like such a waste of perfectly good things that someone could easily find joy in. Secondly, what a horrible impact that has on our environment. I’d love to find a way to properly get rid of items that aren’t biodegradable like clothing, shoes, etc.

Does anyone know of a way to recycle clothing and other items that might be too old or worn to donate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for now, it’s time to do some research on Halloween costumes since we’ve got Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party coming up and it’s my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Magic Kingdom event! Oh, I am so excited for Halloween and Fall. Can you tell?

Until next time! ❀
